What is the need for Wisdom Tooth Removal ?

Wisdom teeth are four tooth which are situated at the farthest back in the jaws.  They are permanent teeth and they started developing at teen ages or in  early twenties.  Wisdom tooth extraction is the removal of teeth. They are the hardest among the other teeth.

Thangam’s dental clinic, Chennai, one of the Best Dental Extraction Centers in Chennai offers high quality treatment at affordable cost.  The impeccable hospitality provided by the hospital is one of the noticeable features.

Overcrowding of front teeth causes the other teeth to lose it actual position and finally there is a dislocation of teeth.  This is one of the reasons for the extraction of wisdom tooth.  Wisdom tooth sometimes causes damages to the surrounding gums they come in contact with.  In this case, they tear the gum and sores also may appear.  This finally ends in infection of the gum and tooth.  At the end extraction is necessary.

The first step of the wisdom tooth extraction is putting an incision in the gum in order to open it and sometimes a small portion of the bone also removed for the extraction.  To adopt a careful and safer procedure wisdom tooth is divided into segments and then removed.  An experienced dentist is necessary for this surgery.  The incision in the gum needs to be closed with stitches. The dentist will provide some measures to be followed after the surgery for the easy recovery.

Swelling and discomfort may experience after the surgery.  The tooth extracted area should not be rinsed forcibly.  Need to take the prescribed medicines.

  • Overbite - Upper front teeth sticks out too forward over the lower teeth
  • Underbite - The lower teeth are too far forward or the upper teeth too far back
  • Crossbite - The upper teeth do not come down slightly in front of the lower teeth when biting together normally
  • Open bite - Space that appears on the front surface when the back teeth bite together
  • Misplaced midline - The centre of your upper front teeth does not line up with the centre of your lower front teeth
  • Spacing - Spaces, between the teeth as a result of missing teeth or teeth that do not "fill up" the mouth
  • Crowding - There are too many teeth for the dental ridge to accommodate

 Treatment

Some of featured treatments are:
  • Braces – It is comprised of bands, wires and/or brackets. The wires are passed through the brackets and attached to the bands to form an arc over the teeth. Tightening the arch wire puts tension on the teeth, gradually aligning them.
  • Aligners – They are removable, similar to braces without metal wires and brackets. Aligners are virtually invisible and it is an alternative for braces.
  • Palatal expander - A plastic plate fits over the roof of the mouth. It is used to widen the arch of the upper jaw.
  • Removable retainers - worn on the roof of the mouth, these devices prevent shifting of the teeth to their previous position.

Get Beautiful Smile Forever With Dental Braces

Dental braces are the best and the most comfortable solution for crooked teeth or a misaligned bite is braces.

How Do Braces Work?

The braces work by applying continuous pressure over a particular period of time to slowly move the teeth in a specific direction. As the teeth move, the bone also changes shape due to the pressure applied.

Braces are made up of the following components:

  • Brackets are the small squares which are bonded directly to the front of each tooth with a special dental bonding agent. They hold the arch wires which move the teeth. Occasionally, brackets are cemented to the back of teeth, to hide them from view.
  • Orthodontic bands are cemented to the teeth with the help of dental bonding agents. They wrap around each tooth to provide an anchor for the brackets.
  • Spacers are the separators that fit between the teeth to create a small space prior to the placement of orthodontic bands.
  • Arch wires attach to the brackets and act as tracks to guide the movement of the teeth.
  • A buccal tube on the band of the last teeth holds the end of the arch wire securely in place.
  • Tiny elastic rubber bands, called ligatures, hold the arch wires to the brackets.
  • Springs may be placed on the arch wires between brackets to push, pull, open or close the spaces between teeth.
  • Elastics or rubber bands attach to hooks on brackets and are worn between the upper and lower teeth in various ways. They apply the required pressure to help move the upper teeth against the lower teeth to achieve a perfect fit of the individual teeth.
  • Face bow headgear is the wire gadget that is used to move the upper molars back in the mouth to correct bite discrepancies and also to create room for crowded teeth.

Will Braces Be Painful?

The alterations made by the orthodontist make to the braces may make your mouth feel sore or uncomfortable. When needed pain relievers like Motrin or Tylenol can help relieve the pain.

Dental Health And Diabetes

The link between dental health and diabetes has been researched widely. When the diabetes is controlled, the patient is like any other normal healthy human being. But uncontrolled diabetes can hamper the oral health in the form of gum disorders. These can lead to weaker teeth and risk of decay, cavities and eventual teeth fall off.

Diabetes, medically known as Diabetes Mellitus is a condition that arises when the body does not utilise the glucose consumed. The reason for this irregularity can be due to the unavailability of adequate insulin that helps the body absorb glucose or due to lack of interaction between the cells and the glucose consumed. The former reason is what is known as Type 1 diabetes and the latter is known as Type 2 diabetes.

Dental Health and diabetes

A diet high in sugar and starch can affect oral health, especially in the case of a person with diabetes. They accelerate tooth decay leading to cavities. Dental health and diabetes are also related in other ways. Diabetics are advised to have short meals in frequent intervals of time. This leads to an increase in frequency of exposure of teeth to food particles. If not followed by constant brushing and flossing these can stick to the teeth, causing cavities.

Diabetes tend to decrease the healing ability of the patient. This creates another link between dental health and diabetes. The chances of diabetics contracting gum diseases like gingivitis is high. Because of their inability to fight infections like normal people, gum diseases due to plaque and bacteria is increasingly found in diabetics.

Another dental issue faced by diabetics is dry mouth. The lack of adequate amount of saliva in mouth leads to an increase in action of bacteria and thereby cavities. Bad breath in the form of an unpleasant fruity smell is another issue faced by diabetics. These can be controlled with the help of mouth wash and frequent brushing. Bringing diabetes under control can remedy all these issues.

Thangam’s Dental Clinic in Chennai, India is one of the best in the country offering advanced treatment options in all relevant fields of dentistry.

Make Your Smile More Attractive

Full-mouth Rehabilitation or Full-mouth Reconstruction are the common terms used to describe the rebuilding or restoring process of all teeth both in upper and lower jaws. This procedure normally involves with general or restorative treatments such as bridges, veneers and crowns and sometimes is incorporated with other specializations like Periodontics (gum specialization), oral surgery, orthodontics (tooth movement and positioning) and Endodontics (treating tooth pulp).

http://www.thangamsdentalclinic.org/Diagnosis-of-gum-disease.php

When the tooth is broken, fractured or chipped immediate dental attention is needed. If it is left untreated the destroyed tooth could be damaged and infected further and finally ends up with tooth loss. The treatment varies depend on the affected tooth condition. If small enamel is broken, it could be corrected within one dental visit. A severely damaged tooth might require the lengthy and costly procedure. There are some ways to repair the broken or chipped teeth such as dental veneers, root canal, dental cap or crown, and dental bonding.

The Gum Diseases most of the time is associated with bad breath, loss of the tooth. There are certain symptoms of gum diseases such as teeth losing, swollen red gums, during and after brushing gums start to bleed, deep pockets formation between the tooth and the gums. Some people experience gum disease at the back side of the mouth that cannot be seen. Only Periodontist can find out the exact gum disease and treatment.

When we talk about Fillings the traditional gold fillings were replaced by esthetic fillings such as tooth-colored restoration. It is commonly referred as bonding. It is done in a single sitting by placing a composite resin material into smaller cavities and adhered with the tooth by liquid “bonding agents”. Another filling method is Ceramic fillings that are offered by modern dentistry. They are strong, natural looking and long lasting. If the ceramic filling is properly done they will "disappear" into the tooth and look like a perfectly healthy intact tooth.

Porcelain veneers are otherwise called as dental veneers, porcelain laminates is like a thin contact lens that is fixed on the front of the tooth to hide discoloration, crooked tooth, to reduce sensitivity, to correct bad bite without grinding the natural tooth. Porcelain is a ceramic heat fired and does not face any stains. If the veneer is stained, it can be polished off easily during a normal cleaning.

Crowns are otherwise called as caps which are placed on the root canal teeth or cleaned teeth to prevent further infection.

Dental Bridges are used to bridge the gap in cases of missing teeth.

Thangam's Dental Clinic provides high-quality treatments like cosmetic dentistry, Orthodontics, Periodontics and Implantology since 1999. It is one of the best clinics for Full-mouth Rehabilitation in Chennai.
