Invisalign Braces - The Invisible Dentistry Innovation

We all know about traditional orthodontic braces and what they look like. Basically, braces are brackets affixed to the teeth, with metal wires and rubber bands which are weaved through to move your teeth to the desired positions. Their function is to straighten them over time and they are very effective. However, traditional braces have a problem - they don’t really look all that nice. Teenagers and young adults are more self conscious in their everyday appearance. Ceramic braces are an alternative for traditional braces. But they are similar to their metal cousins, the big exception being they are more in line with tooth colour. Another option is invisalign braces.

Invisalign is a viable alternative to traditional braces (for the most part). Invisalign is not for everyone and they are best for adults or teens. Your dentist or orthodontist will help you decide what’s best for you. The greatest benefit to Invisalign is the “looks”. They detract very little (if at all) to one’s physical appearance as they are clear, plastic-like “slip on” devices and they do look good (in fact, good means in “not being able to tell they are there.”) So they are very popular with the adult crowd for this reason alone.

Benefits of Invisalign

Unlike braces, you can remove the aligners while you are eating and you have the flexibility to eat and drink what you want during the treatment. This is not only great from a comfort standpoint, as food doesn’t get stuck in odd places, so the risk of plaque is lessened with easier cleaning of teeth. Invisalign is often pain-free, or, at the very least, less painful than metal braces. Traditional braces use metal brackets or wires which could cause irritation to your mouth but Invisalign doesn’t hurt. Besides, you have to spend lesser time in the doctor’s chair and scheduling appointments, and more time out doing the things you love.

Most importantly, Invisalign allows you to analyze the treatment plan and virtual results before you start the treatment, using advanced 3-D computer imaging technology.  The good news is the science behind tooth movement with plastic aligners grows at an exponential rate, due to the digital technology. Always seek a consultation from a qualified Invisalign provider to get a time and cost estimate for your particular needs.

Invisalign works well for:

  • Aesthetic purposes and simple dental issues
  • Gappy or Protruding teeth.
  • Mildly crooked teeth.
  • Malocclusion (misalignment between the upper and lower teeth as you close your mouth).
  • Mild overbites (top row of teeth reach down over the bottom row) and Mild underbites (bottom row of teeth reach up over the top row).
  • Overcrowding of teeth.
  • Open bites and Crossbites (type of malocclusion where your teeth are not matched up in position to the corresponding teeth on the upper or lower jaw as it is either closer to the cheek or tongue).
  • Excessive overjets (lower teeth and/or lower jaw not keeping pace with the forward growth of the upper jaw).

The only way to know if you are a good candidate for invisalign is to have a consultation with an orthodontist.

Get your Decayed Tooth Restored

Healthy dental are often free from cavities, germs, infection, diseases and of course, the pain caused by them. But in the present scenario wherein our food habits are entirely different, there is no way we can compromise on tasting various foods and drinks that might lead to dental cavities and tooth decay.

http://www.thangamsdentalclinic.org/Cavity-fillings.php

Not cleaning the teeth after binging snacks and sipping soft drinks are the sole cause of tooth decay. These are the most commonly seen health issues in relation to dental. Ranging from infants to elderly people, cavities can happen to anyone at any time. If they are not properly treated at appropriate time, the cavity goes in depth resulting in unendurable tooth pain and tooth loss. Although tooth extraction can be opted to prevent spread of the decay, many dentists highly recommend dental fillings to put an end to it. Many dental clinics are extending their support with respect to cavity treatment in India. Thangam’s Dental Clinic run by Dr. P. Rajesh Kumar is a one-stop destination to put an end to all your dental issues. Systematic service coupled with very up to date treatments are their forte. He is known as the best dental specialist in Tamil Nadu.

Symptoms of Dental Cavities

If the cavity is at the initial stage, not many symptoms can be seen. While it gets deeper, signs of tooth decay are of course, visible and dental filling ought to be done. A few of them are:
  • Visible holes in the decayed tooth
  • Pain when you bite food
  • Tooth sensitivity
  • Intermittent toothache
  • Black staining on the surface of the tooth
  • Swelling around the tooth

What is a Dental Filling?

Restoring a damaged tooth to its original shape and function is carried out using tooth filling. The dentist cleans the affected part of the tooth and fills the cavity with the suitable filling material. Once space is closed off, no more bacteria would enter the cleaned out area and further decay will not happen as well.

Types of Dental Fillings

Amalgam Fillings
They are pretty much inexpensive. But as they are very much dark in colour, they cannot be used in the most visible areas as they are too noticeable.

Resin Fillings
They are of the same colour as that of the teeth so that they can be used if a natural look is mandatory. Unfortunately, for larger fillings, resin fillings are not suitable and the durability is very minimal. The composition used for the procedure is mixed and put inside the cavity and slowly it hardens.

Porcelain Fillings
The fillings are bonded to the tooth and resist staining in toto.
As some filling materials can be allergic to the patient, the suitable one needs to be chosen by the doctor on the basis of the depth of the cavity.  After the filling is done, brushing with fluoride toothpaste and mouth rinse using antibacterial treatments are essential.

Only oral hygiene earned through good brushing, and it can help you save yourself from dental diseases. Visiting reputed dental clinics for dental cavity filling in Chennai such as Thangam Dental Clinic can provide the perfect oral health and aesthetics.

What is the need for Wisdom Tooth Removal ?

Wisdom teeth are four tooth which are situated at the farthest back in the jaws.  They are permanent teeth and they started developing at teen ages or in  early twenties.  Wisdom tooth extraction is the removal of teeth. They are the hardest among the other teeth.

Thangam’s dental clinic, Chennai, one of the Best Dental Extraction Centers in Chennai offers high quality treatment at affordable cost.  The impeccable hospitality provided by the hospital is one of the noticeable features.

Overcrowding of front teeth causes the other teeth to lose it actual position and finally there is a dislocation of teeth.  This is one of the reasons for the extraction of wisdom tooth.  Wisdom tooth sometimes causes damages to the surrounding gums they come in contact with.  In this case, they tear the gum and sores also may appear.  This finally ends in infection of the gum and tooth.  At the end extraction is necessary.

The first step of the wisdom tooth extraction is putting an incision in the gum in order to open it and sometimes a small portion of the bone also removed for the extraction.  To adopt a careful and safer procedure wisdom tooth is divided into segments and then removed.  An experienced dentist is necessary for this surgery.  The incision in the gum needs to be closed with stitches. The dentist will provide some measures to be followed after the surgery for the easy recovery.

http://www.thangamsdentalclinic.org/wisdom-tooth-extraction.php

The main symptoms that lead to wisdom tooth extraction are facial swelling, pain, infection in the mouth and swelling of the gum.

Swelling and discomfort may experience after the surgery.  The tooth extracted area should not be rinsed forcibly.  Need to take the prescribed medicines.

Orthodontics: Reason for your beautiful smile

Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry that deals with the positioning of jaws and teeth properly, which may be distorted by over or under bites, or for crowded teeth. Orthodontists are the specialist in this field that primarily focus on facial growth and dental development.

Benefits of Orthodontic treatment

  • A healthier mouth
  • A more pleasing appearance
  • Teeth that are more likely to last a lifetime

http://www.thangamsdentalclinic.org/Orthodontics.php

  • Overbite - Upper front teeth sticks out too forward over the lower teeth
  • Underbite - The lower teeth are too far forward or the upper teeth too far back
  • Crossbite - The upper teeth do not come down slightly in front of the lower teeth when biting together normally
  • Open bite - Space that appears on the front surface when the back teeth bite together
  • Misplaced midline - The centre of your upper front teeth does not line up with the centre of your lower front teeth
  • Spacing - Spaces, between the teeth as a result of missing teeth or teeth that do not "fill up" the mouth
  • Crowding - There are too many teeth for the dental ridge to accommodate

 Treatment

Some of featured treatments are:
  • Braces – It is comprised of bands, wires and/or brackets. The wires are passed through the brackets and attached to the bands to form an arc over the teeth. Tightening the arch wire puts tension on the teeth, gradually aligning them.
  • Aligners – They are removable, similar to braces without metal wires and brackets. Aligners are virtually invisible and it is an alternative for braces.
  • Palatal expander - A plastic plate fits over the roof of the mouth. It is used to widen the arch of the upper jaw.
  • Removable retainers - worn on the roof of the mouth, these devices prevent shifting of the teeth to their previous position.
